Ray co-founded RLB Holdings with his wife Lydia in 2011 and is the managing general partner of the firm. After a 20 plus year energy trading career at Texaco and Glencore Limited, Ray turned to Private Equity and the development of a family office which is dedicated to having a diversified portfolio and a double bottom line investment approach. A 1986 Dual-Major graduate of the US Merchant Marine Academy, Ray received his MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1991 with a focus in international business. Ray currently serves on the boards of Solution Point International, Hadron Global Partners and Defense Mobile Corporation. Ray also serves on the Board of Trustees of the Whitby School.
Dr. Shawn Iadonato serves as Kineta’s Chief Executive Officer. Dr. Iadonato is a co-founder of Kineta and previously served as Chief Scientific Officer. Under his leadership as CSO, the Kineta pipeline expanded to include the AViid™ Screening Platform and five novel drug and vaccine programs with a focus on autoimmune diseases, antivirals and chronic pain. Prior to founding Kineta, Dr. Iadonato co-founded and served as CSO of Illumigen Biosciences, Inc. At Illumigen Biosciences, he pioneered their patented drug discovery platform which relied upon recruitment and screening of healthy populations and elucidation of their shared "wellness" genes. Dr. Iadonato also led the successful discovery and preclinical development of Illumigen's anti-hepatitis C drug, which ultimately led to the sale of the company in December, 2007 to Cubist Pharmaceuticals (now part of Merck & Co.). Before Illumigen, Dr. Iadonato managed the Human Genome Center at the University of Washington. He is co-inventor on more than 35 U.S. patents or patent applications. He is Principal Investigator or co-Investigator on numerous ongoing government grants and contracts. Dr. Iadonato received a Ph.D. in Genetics from the University of Washington and is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Charles Magness was the principal founder of KPI Therapeutics in 2013 and is currently the President and Chief Executive Officer. He is responsible for strategy and execution of all corporate initiatives, development opportunities and acquisition of capital. Previously, he was President and Chief Executive Officer for Kineta, Inc. which he cofounded in 2007. Under his leadership, Kineta moved rapidly to acquire and finance its lead autoimmune program and advance its discovery stage antiviral research. Dr. Magness secured several significant investment partnerships. As a founder, he also developed and successfully implemented Kineta's business model which is designed to reduce investor risk and provide faster returns on investment. Dr. Magness, along with Kineta co-founder, Dr. Shawn Iadonato, founded Illumigen Biosciences, Inc. in 2000. Serving initially as CIO and then President and COO from 2002-2007, Dr. Magness led that company from inception to acquisition by Cubist Pharmaceuticals. During his tenure, Illumigen raised over $23M through financing and business development activities, contract revenue, and grants. At Illumigen, he also was responsible for investor relations, intellectual property licensing and legal affairs. Prior to founding Illumigen, he managed sequence data analysis for the University of Washington Genome Center and co-developed SEGMAP, a widely used tool essential for mapping the human genome. Dr. Magness has more than 25 years’ experience developing and managing statistical solutions for large scientific projects. He received a Research Career Award from the National Institutes of Health for his transition into human genomics from his formal training in mechanical and aerospace engineering. After earning his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees from Lehigh University, he was a Research Scientist at McDonnell Douglas Research Labs. He is co-inventor on multiple issued US and international patents and was awarded an official commendation when employed by the US Army.
Don and his brother Gary have worked together as partners for over 50 years, building one of the most respected construction companies in the Pacific Northwest. Merlino Construction and Stoneway Concrete have a long history of performing work for the City of Seattle, State of Washington and Port of Seattle, as well as, many of the largest local companies such as Boeing, Microsoft and Amazon. Some of the projects that the companies have been involved in are the Mercer Island Tunnel, Safeco and Century Link fields, the 3rd Runway Project, Tacoma Light Rail, First Hill Streetcar and many of the building projects in the downtown area. In addition to their successful operating companies, Don and his brother have built an extensive real estate portfolio in the Seattle area. Don is a Seattle native, graduating from Seattle Prep (60') and earning a bachelor’s degree in Finance from Seattle University (65'). He and his wife Joan have been married for over 50 years and have raised 3 sons while living in Seattle’s Laurelhurst neighborhood. In his free time Don enjoys spending time with his children and grandchildren, golfing, skiing, fly fishing and traveling. He is also the owner of Ostera LaSpiga Restaurant on Capitol Hill.
Steven R. Mitchell, MD, PhD has specialized in psychiatry for more than 30 years in Seattle. He is currently affiliated with Swedish Medical Centers. He is a graduate of the Medical School of the University of South Alabama. He performed his residency in psychiatry at the University of Washington. He is board certified in psychiatry and also a member of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He has special expertise in 12 areas. Dr. Mitchell is listed in U.S. News & World Reports. Dr. Mitchell has received numerous awards during his career including Patient’s Choice Award (2010-2011, 2013, 2015); Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2010-2011, 2013, 2015,) On-Times Doctor Award (2015).
James G. Wilders Reed has been a Managing Partner in Reed Global Consultants (RGC), LLC since September 2011. RGC is a consulting company focusing on the financial service industry. Mr. Reed also mentors start-ups in the Pacific Northwest. Currently he sits on five boards. KPI Therapeutics and Lightspeed Automotive as a board member. He is Board Chair for Pebblebee, PetHub and Minetta Brook. Most recently he formed a new investment group called SWAN Investment Group. He is the Managing Partner of SWAN which focuses on friends & family stage companies. Besides funding, SWAN also advises, assists, mentors the companies. Mr. Reed has invested in 18 startup companies as an angel investor in the past three years. Prior to his retirement Mr. Reed worked in the financial services industry for 37 years as an investment banker. He has lived in major cities around the world, such as New York, London, Tokyo, Hong Kong and San Francisco. His last position was, Managing Executive of Mizuho Securities Co., Ltd. Global Head of Secondary Products, Board Member, April 2010 ~ June 2011; Chairman, Mizuho Securities USA, Inc. April 2010 ~ June 201, and President & CEO, Mizuho Securities USA, Inc. April 2008 ~ March 2010 Mr. Reed graduated from Sophia University in 1973. He has a BA in Political Science and Far Eastern Area Studies.
